Want big ink?  Think big picture.

Companies large and small still issue press releases that begin with a statement like this:  "XYZ Company announced today..." This is fine if:

  • You don't care if anybody reads your press release, or
  • You want a tiny one-sentence mention within a long list of other companies that issued the same type of press release.
Instead, if you want your press release to have impact, tie your announcement to a larger trend and entice the editor/blogger to consider a larger feature story. 

For instance, if you are announcing strong fourth quarter sales, your lead could be:  "Bucking national industry forecasts, XYZ Company managed to record $$$$$  in sales during the final quarter.  Like other innovators, the strength of XYZ Company's product line carried the company through the economic dip..."

The key is to think Big Picture, regardless of the size of your organization. Click below for an example of how it works:
